Moroni 10: Come Follow Me Book of Mormon with Sam

Congratulations! We made it! It is the end of the Book of Mormon! After learning so much from Mormon and Moroni, I feel the sacred nature of this last chapter. Moroni brings together so many ideas so fast, that this is really a crown jewel of a most miraculous work.

The forgotten verse in Moroni's ask

We all know Moroni 10 vs 4-5. ask God if these things are true and He will tell you by the power of the Holy Ghost. Well, Moroni gives some clues in vs 3 on how this is to be accomplished. Notice that in both the old scripture mastery and the new come follow me manual, vs 3 is included in the set. Let's break it down

3 Behold, I would exhort you - Moroni really cares about what he is about to ask you to do

that when ye shall read these things, - He knows you, and that these things will come to you.

if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them - This is a reminder that God was the one who inspired the prophets, preserved the writings, protecting them to this day, then sent them forth, and that if you are reading these things, God knew you would and created that path that these things should come to you.

that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things,-  A plea for remembrance and gratitude. Please remember your history to the ages of time and be grateful for all that God has doen

and ponder it in your hearts. - please take the time and make the space to understand what all this means.

Then you have the promise in 4 and 5.

Gifts of the Spirit

Moroni gets into gifts of the spirit. Gifts of the spirit is something I am barely able to grasp. Moroni treats these things as absolutely vital to the true church of God. We should always be looking for and seeking all manifestations of the spirit in its various forms and writing our experience down, and thanking god for his mercy in our life.

Touch not the evil gift, nor the unclean thing

I've wondered what this could be. I think if you go back to my blog posts about the deeply badness shizam you will get an idea of what the evil gift is.

Farewell.

I am so grateful to Moroni, and all the prophets, to Nephi and Lehi who had the faith to leave their life in Jerusalem. I'm grateful to God for making this record available to us and guiding all things for the ultimate root of joy that He has made possible through Jesus Christ. I hope that this blog has helped you better understand the story of past heroes and that their resting place has found room in your hearts, that we can do a work in our day worthy of what they did and what they have been given. Here are the last words of the Book of Mormon

31 And aawake, and arise from the dust, O Jerusalem; yea, and put on thy beautiful garments, O daughter of bZion; and cstrengthen thy dstakes and enlarge thy borders forever, that thou mayest eno more be confounded, that the covenants of the Eternal Father which he hath made unto thee, O house of Israel, may be fulfilled.

32 Yea, acome unto Christ, and be bperfected in him, and cdeny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and dlove God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be eperfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

33 And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye asanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the bblood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your csins, that ye become dholy, without spot.

34 And now I bid unto all, farewell. I soon go to arest in the bparadise of God, until my cspirit and body shall again dreunite, and I am brought forth triumphant through the eair, to meet you before the fpleasing bar of the great gJehovah, the Eternal hJudge of both quick and dead. Amen.

THE END
