Joseph Smith - Matthew 1; Matthew 24-25; Mark 12-13; Luke 21 - Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome Joseph Smith Matthew  I'm only going to focus on Joseph Smith's translation of Matthew 23 for this section. Keep in mind that Joseph Smith's translation is a bit of a misnomer - Joseph smith was moreso using direct revelation from the lord to either clarify meaning or restore parts taken out. Oh, and other great news, I get to pick up exactly where my last post dropped off: 1  For  I say unto you, that ye shall not see me henceforth and know that I am he of whom it is written by the prophets, until ye shall say: Blessed is he who  cometh  in the name of the Lord, in the clouds of heaven, and all the holy angels with him. Then understood his disciples that he should come again on the earth, after that he was glorified and  crowned  on the right hand of God. Christ instructs His disciples how to teach the people when Jerusalem is destroyed. He uses it to also instruct us how to prepare for the second coming. Preparing for the second coming ...

Matthew 21-23; Mark 11;Luke 19-20; John 12 - come follow me with Sam

Welcome! The gloves come off We are now into Christ's last week in Jerusalem; it seems at this point the die is cast in the pharisees' hearts, and Christ knew how this was going to go down anyway, so he is being a little clearer to the pharisees, which, if you are pharisee, means you are in for a bit of a rough time. I'm going to focus on chapter 23 of Matthew. Christ instructs people with this interesting verse: 2  Saying, The  scribes  and the Pharisees sit in Moses’  seat : 3  All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe,  that  observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. I'll let that one sink in without further comment at this time. Christ says things are really messed up there. You aren't supposed to bind others with heavy burdents. You aren't supposed to show off your phylacteries, you aren't supposed to seek after recognition, you aren't supposed to fall in love with people loving you. then Christ shares th...

Matthew 19-20; Mark 10; Luke 18

Welcome! Of Good and Evil I'm going to do a short walkthrough of Mark 10. The main theme is 'what is the price to truly be good?'  The rich young man comes to Jesus and calls him 'Good Master' Christ responds 'there is none good but one, that is, God' Whenever we get these kind of strange isms in the gospels, it is Christ making a point. Here we have the rich young man asking for eternal life. What he does not realize is that eternal life is something that will require him to give everything he has. It will also require Christ to give everything He has. This is not a light topic. When Christ reminds the young man that only God is good, He is prepping the man to realize just how much is required to be 'good' and what it will take. Christ can tell that the rich young man is trying and very sincere. He does a checkin: are you doing all the right things? The rich young man is doing them. This is great news. Then Christ says essentially that the rich you...
