With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. I'm playing some catch-up today!

Top 3 things to think about in Galatians

1. 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but aChrist bliveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the cfaith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

There is an inscription on the gateway to an orthodox Christian monastery that says 'If you die before you die then you won't die when you die' (thanks ward radio and Rax WEblog). Think about this in relation to the above paragraph

2. 4:5-7

5 To aredeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the badoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7 Wherefore thou art no more a aservant, but a bson; and if a son, then an cheir of God through Christ.

I don't mean to belabor the point that we are literal children of God. But it is such an important one that both Paul and I keep coming back to it. Here we have the pattern. 1. you are sons and daughters of god (in spirit)

2. So God can send his spirit to you to remind you of your spiritual destiny

3. thus awakening in you what you need to become an adopted son (in title and glory) and become an heir of God (yes, you really are an heir)

3. 5:5

5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by afaith.

I love this scripture because it gives us the relationships between many christian virtues and how we can practice them.

For WE (the believers)

Through the SPIRIT (everything that happens next happens through the spirit, so we the believers should first seek the spirit in all things, then the other things will come)

WAIT (this is another word for godly patience, or in other words, us giving ourselves fully to the timing and glory of the Lord for recompense)

for the HOPE (this is the patience of hope...)

of RIGHTEOUSNESS (that hope that only the righteous can have that to the righteous can only be fulfilled)

by FAITH (please see my forthcoming book for the importance of this concept)

Acts 22-28 - come follow me with Sam!

 Welcome! Une drole d'Eglise Paul shows how the jewish 'church', their ecclesiastical organization and understanding, is in chaos  - the chief priest, guardian of the law is he who violates the law - the different sects are squabbling amongst themselves, in one moment more eager to persecute paul, in the next moment more eager to prosecute their adversaries' contrary ideas - 40 of them straight up swore an oath to murder. This is deeply badness shizam. - they describe the 'quietness' they so desire and that paul is a 'pestilent fellow' interrupting their serenity. Throughout all of this, Paul is guided by the spirit what he must do.

Bonus! the Simple Gospel of the Way

 Am I writing a Gnostic text? I definitely titled this blog post like one. Maybe we should turn it over to the scholars and ask how close I got. Or maybe I'll be able to ask the gnostics one day. I'd like to share something I am calling the Simple Gospel of the Way. I'm sure many of you have been taught the gospels, the plan of salvation, or something similar to map your vector relation with God. Here is an approach that I hope helps. 1. We are separated from God. (Hopefully no surprises here.) Everything we do is to get back to Him. We are trying to close the separation. We are trying to become One with Him. This is the most important singular concept I can think of. When we understand this, everything else falls into place.  1.1 This is not simply a separation of physical distance.
