Hebrews 1-6: Come Follow Me with Sam

       Welcome!

With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. I'm playing some catch-up today!

There are a lot of foundation principles in Hebrews. It is like this book can be a lot more clear because the people have the scriptural foundation to understand the doctrine, vs other peoples who would struggle with it more.

Top 3 things to think about in Hebrews 1-6

1. 2:2-4

For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and adisobedience received a bjust recompence of reward;

How shall we aescape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

God also bearing them witness, both with asigns and bwonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own cwill?

If you look at this closely, you will recognize there is a foundation of faith to learn. Paul is saying this can be a sure anchor for you if you reflect and hold on these things

2. 3:5-14

And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a aservant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

But Christ as a son over his own ahouse; whose bhouse are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Wherefore (as the aHoly Ghost saith, bTo day if ye will hear his voice,

aHarden not your hearts, as in the bprovocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

When your fathers tempted me, aproved me, and saw my works forty years.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that ageneration, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not aenter into my brest.)

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil aheart of bunbelief, in cdeparting from the living God.

13 But aexhort one another daily, while it is called bTo day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence asteadfast unto the end;

I'm leaving out a lot, but the first quote was the foundation of faith. This is the progression of faith.

3. 4:9-11

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11 Let us alabour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of bunbelief.

This last quote is the fulfillment of faith. There is more on faith in the next week's reading
