A gift for the Savior: a Christmas story

originally published 12/17/2023 updated 12/20/2023 Hello, I'm going to interrupt my normal blog for a special Christmas project. Below is a story you can read to your children 7 days before Christmas, a little every day. In fact! If you have children of Reading age, they can participate!  Before you begin There are four parts, each with a symbol to let you know who should read the part, should you want your children to participate. ()The narrator (no symbol) - Suggestion that the mother of the family is the narrarator :The dear prophet, an angel - signified by a colon : - suggestion that the father of the family or an older child read these lines. The Mother can easily read these lines as well ~Hep, an angel - signified by a thingy ~ - suggestion that a daughter or daughters take turns reading these lines ^Yashub, an angel - singified by another thingy ^ - suggestion that a son or sons take turns reading these lines This story is meant to be started 12/18 and finished 12/24. Each d...

Hebrews 1-6: Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. I'm playing some catch-up today! There are a lot of foundation principles in Hebrews. It is like this book can be a lot more clear because the people have the scriptural foundation to understand the doctrine, vs other peoples who would struggle with it more. If you...

1 Nephi 11-15 - Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! Things happen to Nephi really quickly this week. What is interesting is that he sees a piece of the vision, then he sees a piece of the history of the world, then he goes back to the vision, then back to the world over and over again. It is like a hyper-converged vision with the symbols and the realities manifesting themselves almost synchronously with each other. And he leaves a lot out. Here are some of the highlights from my studies. The Condescension of God The angel focuses on something called the condescension of God. We'll talk about this more when we get to Abinadai. For now it may be good to hone in on why Nephi was taught about specifically that. There is (a little) more discussion of this on my sound recordings. Nephi's vision of present day America Nephi has a whole chapter on what happens after the gentiles come to America. He probably wasn't writing this for his people. He was probably writing about it specifically for us. he talks about God inspiring...
