some quick-fire lessons

  • Joseph Smith did a return and report, mentioning the commandments the saints and received and fulfilled
  • saints were blessed with power
  • ask that all who worship in this house be taught words of wisdom out of the best books, seek learning by study and by faith
  • obtain every needful thing
  • speedily repent and return to God when in transgression
  • overcome enemies
  • break the yoke from the necks of God's servants
  • reaffirm the preciousness of souls
  • reference to the blood of the saints crying as a witness to God
  • reminder that kingdom was set up without hands
  • sing hosanna to God and the Lamb (I want to go to that congregation for worship one day ;)

Section 110

Section 110 is a recorded witness of one of the most sacred experiences in the Kirtland temple.

Bonus! the Simple Gospel of the Way

 Am I writing a Gnostic text? I definitely titled this blog post like one. Maybe we should turn it over to the scholars and ask how close I got. Or maybe I'll be able to ask the gnostics one day. I'd like to share something I am calling the Simple Gospel of the Way. I'm sure many of you have been taught the gospels, the plan of salvation, or something similar to map your vector relation with God. Here is an approach that I hope helps. 1. We are separated from God. (Hopefully no surprises here.) Everything we do is to get back to Him. We are trying to close the separation. We are trying to become One with Him. 1 Nephi 11-15 - Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! Things happen to Nephi really quickly this week. What is interesting is that he sees a piece of the vision, then he sees a piece of the history of the world, then he goes back to the vision, then back to the world over and over again. It is like a hyper-converged vision with the symbols and the realities manifesting themselves almost synchronously with each other. And he leaves a lot out. Here are some of the highlights from my studies. The Condescension of God The angel focuses on something called the condescension of God. We'll talk about this more when we get to Abinadai. For now it may be good to hone in on why Nephi was taught about specifically that. There is (a little) more discussion of this on my sound recordings.
