1 Corinthians 8-13: Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. Stake Conference was today so I'm making the most of it to catch up!  These will be short, but one day I plan to add more detail. Top 3 things to think about in 1 Corinthians 8-13 1. 9:16 16  For though I preach the  a gospel , I have nothing to glory of: for  b necessity  is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I  c preach  not the gospel! Paul has a certain commission so there are things that apply to him that apply less to us. However, he is making a salient point: The Gospel needs to be preached - so much so that preaching it isn't necessarily a credit to your celestial account as much as it is a duty for the followers of Christ.  There are some who ask why Christians can't just keep christianity to themselves. They do not understand the irony of that statement or the commandments Christ has given us.  2. 10:1-4 1  Moreover...

1 Corinthians 1-7: Come follow me with Sam

Welcome! With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. Stake Conference was today so I'm making the most of it to catch up!  These will be short, but one day I plan to add more detail. Top 3 things to think about in 1 Corinthians 1-7 1. 1:18-24 18  For the   a preaching   of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the   b power   of God. 19  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the  a understanding  of the  b prudent . 20  Where  is  the wise? where  is  the  a scribe ? where  is  the  b disputer  of this  c world ? hath not God made foolish the  d wisdom  of this  e world ? 21  For after that in the wisdom of God the world  a by  wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of  b preaching  to...

Romans 7-16: Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. Stake Conference was today so I'm making the most of it to catch up!  These will be short, but one day I plan to add more detail. Top 3 things to think about in Romans 7-16 This may be one of the best sections of Paul's writings so it pains me to be so brief. I'm going to let Romans 8 take the cake for this reading 1. vs 15-17 - These very clearly spell out that we are children of God and that we can be co-heirs with Christ. I'm not saying we will ever be greater than Christ but I am saying that Paul is saying that we can be co-heirs in receiving the divine blessings of God.  2. Vs 18 18  For I reckon that the  a sufferings  of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the  b glory  which shall be revealed  c in us . This is a very good perspective scripture. What we see today in no way compares to the glories...
