1 and 2 Peter - Come Follow Me with Sam

With my new calling in my unity, my normal time for writing my blog posts has been interrupted. I'm playing some catch-up today!

James has the famous 1:5 verse. I won't comment on that (besides read and understand it :) and focus on the harder to find things

Top 3 things to think about in 1 and 2 peter

1. 1p 2:1-6

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the astrangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 aElect according to the bforeknowledge of God the Father, through csanctification of the Spirit, unto dobedience and esprinkling of the fblood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant amercy hath bbegotten us again unto a clively dhope by the resurrection of eJesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an ainheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the apower of God through bfaith unto salvation cready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a aseason, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold btemptations:'

St. Exupery may have the key to unlock this passage. My translation: 

I have no hope of ascending by myself. The stone has not hope of being other than a stone. But to collaborate, she assembles and becomes a temple. Citadelle, I build you in the heart of man.

2. Ch 3 - the wife issue

based on my reading and study of texts in ch 3, I believe Peter is talking primarily to wives whose husbands are less faithful in the church. Peter is saying to not give up on them or abandon them, but to work together to a better end.

3. 4:13-14 

13 But arejoice, inasmuch as ye are bpartakers of Christ’s csufferings; that, when his glory shall be drevealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 If ye be areproached for the name of Christ, bhappy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

I feel like peter is speaking here from his own particularly difficult night during the last supper, the garden of gethsemane, and the 3 betrayals.

Acts 22-28 - come follow me with Sam!

 Welcome! Bonus! the Simple Gospel of the Way

 Am I writing a Gnostic text? I definitely titled this blog post like one. Maybe we should turn it over to the scholars and ask how close I got. Or maybe I'll be able to ask the gnostics one day. I'd like to share something I am calling the Simple Gospel of the Way. I'm sure many of you have been taught the gospels, the plan of salvation, or something similar to map your vector relation with God. Here is an approach that I hope helps. 1. We are separated from God. (Hopefully no surprises here.) Everything we do is to get back to Him. We are trying to close the separation. We are trying to become One with Him.
