Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23 - come follow me with Sam

Welcome! More lessons from the Mob. mobs are messed up. They formed almost from the beginning of the world. They did terrible things In Joseph Smith's time. They are in their various forms today. It was the mob that put Christ to death. Notice that when talking to the Mob, Christ is very careful when to speak and when not to speak. Notice how everyone knew what was up. Christ obviously knew. Pilate knew,  Mathew 27 vs 18. in verse 23 matt. and luke, the mob couldn't make accusation against Jesus but they cried all the louder. They knew what was up too. But they kept doing what they were doing. When on the cross, the mob in Matt. vs 40-42 said if Christ would come down from the cross they would believe. This is obviously false. They already sent Him there on things they knew were false. Were He to come back, their hearts would be the same. Okay, this part is pretty somber. Hopefully resurrection morning is next week's reading.

Luke 22, John 18 - Come Follow me with Sam

Welcome! Just a few quick notes for this week's come follow me. 67  Art thou the  Christ ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68  And if I also ask  you,  ye will not answer me, nor let  me  go. 69  Hereafter  shall the  Son of man  sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70  Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71  And they said, What need we any further  witness ? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth. There is so much to learn from this. If you are sign-seeking, stop ;). Also, Jordan Peterson was right. 19  ¶  The high  priest  then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. 20  Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. 21  Why askest thou me? ask them w...

John 14-17 - Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! Okay, I'm not going to lie, this is my favorite part of the gospels - I really can't even do this justice. I'll write very short thoughts in hopes that it piques your curiosity, and also hopefully I can fill in more one day. John 14 1  Let not your heart be  troubled : ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2  In my Father’s  house  are many  mansions : if  it were  not  so,  I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will  come  again, and receive you unto myself; that  where   I  am,  there  ye may be also.   Have you ever really thought that there is a place for you prepared!? and its made for you! Hope you strive for the best! Also, this song captures it so perfectly down to that this comes down to your identity and Christ's identity 4  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5  Thomas saith unto him...

Matthew 26, Mark 14, John 13 - Come Follow Me with Sam

Welcome! some insights on 'thy will be done' In Matthew 26, verse 39-42 Christ prays the famous words, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." the event is also recorded in mark 14, and Luke 22. what's interesting is that in none of these accounts is 'wilt' actually translated- it is all added. (Mark doesn't have it italicized in my copy of kjv, but strongest concordance says the word is not there.) the way I take this is that this is not a battle, and not even a comparison of two wills. Christ was in the Father's will all along, and this prayer is a prayer for the passing of this trial, but it is almost as though Christ is saying 'let this pass or not pass in you'  in vs 42, Christ does say 'thy will be done' meaning the Father's will. This was translated from the Greek thelema which can refer to will, decision, desire, or pleasure. The last word caught my atte...
